Welcome to the Welaka
Maritime Museum!This website is
dedicated in memory of Richard Speas, founder of the Welaka
Maritime Museum. His quick wit and maritime knowledge will be
missed by all those that had the pleasure of meeting him. Come
see the legacy that remains with the beautiful handcrafted
wooden steam boats, launches, and art objects that show the true
soul of an artist.

Every once
in a while, driving around Florida you stumble onto
something totally unexpected. It may be a funky backwoods
restaurant, or something that reminds us of a time in the
past when life was a whole lot simpler.
Well, a few months back Edith and I stumbled across the
Welaka Maritime Museum…what a little treasure to
behold!
